The two goals seemed to energize the Senators, who outshot the Avalanche 9-3 the rest of the first period. Bobby Ryan gathered the loose puck and fed MacArthur from behind the net, and the left winger scored on a one-timer from the left slot at 15:02. It was his 15th of the season.
